Commercial Laundry Cart
Commercial laundry cart units should be used if you own a coin operated laundry facility, or if your business offers extensive laundry services, as they would be in, say a hotel, for example. These types of carts offer more strength and durability, and are often larger than laundry carts made to serve in a residential setting. There are also a number of commercial grade heavy duty laundry carts available that are not necessarily used in business settings, but in residential settings, which can prove useful in larger homes with several rooms, or when several loads of laundry are done on a regular basis and one needs a way to sort the various clothing items.
The most commonly used type of commercial laundry cart will have the following design.
The model shown here is the RB 100E91. It, and other carts like it, are primarily used in coin operated laundry establishments, but are also popular in the dry cleaning, healthcare, and hospitality industries.
They are commonly referred to as single pole commercial laundry carts. They feature a pole that extends vertically from the base of the unit, pivoting horizontally over the center. That way, the customer will have a place to hang certain clothing items after a drying cycle has completed so as to prevent them from becoming wrinkled. The pennant shape formed by the pole at top prevents hangers and clothes from sliding off the side.
Also included in this design is an attached laundry basket. The customer can use this laundry basket to hold wet clothes from the washer before carting them over to an available dryer. Alternatively, one can use it to place folded clothes fresh from the dryer, allowing for neatly organized stacks of finished laundry to be carted over to the customer’s vehicle or into a laundry sack. Most single pole commercial laundry carts, including the R&B 100E91, will have a 2.5 bushel capacity (a bushel is about the size of a small laundry basket).
The clothes rack pole and laundry basket are mounted onto four support legs, which will each have a wheel attached at the bottom to allow the unit to roll across facility floors easily. The wheels will usually be five inch swivel casters. The swivel feature makes it easier for the user to get the unit around corners. The casters found on the R&B 100E91 are quite nice, however. Their special design prevents lint, thread, and other floor debris from catching onto them, so they never jam, allowing for smooth and reliable operation throughout the life of the unit. This also allows for very little maintenance so it will always be available for customers and employees to use.
The RB 100E91 is made out of chrome metal. When providing laundry services, this is an important feature to have, because this type of work often involves the handling of wet clothing that can quickly damage most other types of metals by causing them to rust. Chrome metal, however, is highly resistant to rust, which makes this commercial laundry cart extremely durable. Every reputable laundry cart manufacturer knows this, and several comparable models will fortunately have the same construction, but if you decide to go with another model, do make sure that a chrome construction is included in the product specifications.
These commercial laundry carts are available in several different sizes. The RB 100E91 has dimensions measuring at 26 3/4″ L x 22″ W x 11″ D x 66″ H, which makes it a small to mid sized cart that can maneuver laundromat isles with ease. It is also able to fit underneath folding counters so the premises can be kept nice and tidy when not in use.
